Perennials
The Flying J Farm has an expanding perennial garden as well. The old perennial garden includes asparagus, grapes, blueberries, aronia berries, and apples. In the last couple of years we have been adding a permaculture forest garden which includes, strawberries, raspberries, apples, pair, peach, aronia berries, blueberries, rhubarb, asparagus, and more fruit trees.
Aronia berries. To expand on the aronia berries, this is one of the top super foods grown in this country. They are native to the northeast, once eaten by natives. They are very popular in northern Europe as a juice drink. Here at the Flying J Farm we make a syrup with aronia berries, elderberries, and wild black cherries with some honey as a preservative. Mixed with sparkling water, it is a wonderful nutritious drink. we currently sell the berries frozen at $12 per pound.
